Cookson Hills Tee
Steep timber, bad roads, and families who had known each other for generations. The Cookson Hills run through the eastern counties, and for about fifty years they were the best place in Oklahoma to not be found.
Charles Arthur Floyd came out of that country and kept going back to it. Lawmen who went in after him found nobody willing to say much. The hills fed him and hid him right up until 1934, when they finally caught up with him in an Ohio field instead.
This one marks that ground. Eastern Oklahoma, 1890–1934.
