The 1911 — Oklahoma 46 Star Flag Tee

Oklahoma's first flag was red. Four years after statehood, in 1911, the legislature settled on a solid red banner with one white star in the middle of it, outlined in blue, with a blue "46" set inside the star. Forty-sixth state in the Union. That was the whole design and it never needed another thing.

It flew for fourteen years. Then the Russian Revolution happened, red flags picked up a meaning nobody in 1920s Oklahoma wanted attached to them, and in 1925 the state traded it for the Osage shield we fly today. Good flag. But the first one got retired for being the wrong color at the wrong time, and that's a poor reason to lose something.

So we put the field back on a shirt.
