The 1911 — Oklahoma 46 Star Flag Embroidered Patch Hat

$28.37 AUD

Oklahoma's first state flag wasn't the blue one. In 1911, four years after statehood, Oklahoma flew a solid red banner with a single white star outlined in blue, and a "46" set right in the middle of it. Forty-sixth state in the Union. That was the whole design, and it was perfect.

It lasted fourteen years. After the Russian Revolution, red flags picked up associations nobody in 1920s Oklahoma wanted, and in 1925 the state swapped it out for the Osage shield we fly today. The 46 star flag got quietly retired for being the wrong color at the wrong time.

We put it back on a hat.

The 1911 features the original flag mark stitched as an embroidered patch: cream star, navy outline, navy numerals, red field. No print, no vinyl, just thread.
